The heart of the global Black community stems from our inherent creativity — creativity as a means of survival, expression, and retaliation.

I created blue ii, inspired by the famous and whiny trope that claims, Black people can't have blue eyes.

This misconception can be applied to the many things some would say Black people can’t possess or be.

The idea that there are certain ways we can’t look, things we can’t do, or spaces we can’t take up only attests to the limited visibility many of us with these “outstanding” qualities have.

I look at publications born out of the refining fires of the Harlem Renaissance, and their blatant reclamation of identity and voice. Then, I look at the countless talented and Black thinkers and creators of today and immediately notice the lack of collective spaces we have as a platform for these people.

Blue ii is a conversation about all sorts of topics from the wide spectrum of shades, experiences, and perspectives of the Black community from Black creatives themselves.

Thanks so much for reading. I hope you enjoy and respectfully take part.
